RCG’s Madras Day Celebration was nothing short of unforgettable!

The day began at Marina Lighthouse, where members donned event T-shirts and took a heartfelt pledge to protect our beautiful city.

A luxury Volvo ride took us to Fort St. George, with history brought alive by Maj. Narayanan and Mr. Balaji; walking encyclopedias of Madras’ heritage. From the Fort Museum and St. Mary’s Church to the North Gate, War Memorial, and Monroe statue, their stories revealed the “firsts” that make our city proud, including fascinating insights into Chennai’s film industry.

At Broadway bus stand, our invitees-the DG Vaishnav College students, stunned the crowd with a powerful Mime on drug and tobacco awareness; seamlessly tying Rotary’s focus on community service into our celebration.

Lunch at the Fort came with more stories and well-deserved recognition for Maj. Narayanan, Mr. Balaji, and the young artists. True to their pledge, members ensured the public area was left spotlessly clean.

The day ended at the Lighthouse; our hearts full despite the scorching weather. The event sparkled with camaraderie, food, fun, and inspiration.

A big thanks to our generous sponsors, Club Service Director Rtn. Jemima, and President Rtn. Radha Krish; who made this Madras Day not just a celebration, but a memory for life!
