The Rotary Club of Guindy (RCG) recently concluded a spectacular two-night, three-day expedition to the misty hills of Nadugani in the Nilgiris. This exclusive getaway brought together 24 members for a journey that seamlessly blended high-adrenaline adventure with deep personal connection, ultimately being hailed as one of the best bonding trips in the club's history.
Key Features of the Adventure
- Wilderness Exploration: The group navigated winding mountain trails and lush greenery, enjoying a rejuvenating river walk in crisp mountain waters and a thrilling zipline experience.
- Wildlife Encounters: RCGians witnessed incredible biodiversity, including herds of nearly 1,000 deer, majestic elephants, Grey Langurs, and wild Gaur.
- The Humor of the Trail: In a lighthearted twist, the local leeches ensured almost every Rotarian became a "blood donor". While members like Rtn Jemima Rafeek, Rtn SM Balaji, Rtn Punithan, and Rtn Dharmaraj were noted as top contributors, the group turned these itchy encounters into lasting funny memories.
- Culinary Camaraderie: The journey was flavored by homemade treats, cakes, and Rtn Naren’s special filter coffee, prepared on the train using a traditional stainless steel filter.
Impact on Fellowship and Bonding
The true heart of the Nadugani trip was the excellent fellowship, which was the absolute highlight of the experience. Shared challenges—from slippery paths and "adventure chillarai" (unexpected slides) to the lively evening gatherings—transformed the group into a more deeply bonded family. The nights were filled with laughter, music, and storytelling, creating a sense of togetherness that strengthened friendships far beyond the duration of the trip.
Leadership and Contributions
The success of this seamless experience was driven by a dedicated team:
- President Rtn Radha: Commended for her meticulous organization, unwavering support, and for keeping spirits high throughout the journey.
- Chair Rtn Riyaz & Additional Chairman Rtn Dharmaraj: These leaders were instrumental in the planning and execution of the trip, managing everything from logistics to the challenging terrain.
- The Evening Fellowship Team (Rtn Raghunandan, Rtn Sitani, Rtn Mahesh, Rtn Dharmaraj, Rtn Sampangi, and Rtn Vishnu Priyan): This team hosted the group's evening sessions, ensuring a warm, inclusive atmosphere where camaraderie could flourish after a long day of trekking.
- Special Support: Rtn Aravindh and Rtn SM Balaji provided vital forest department contacts, while Rtn Raghunandan served as the "all-time entertainer" for the group. Additional contributions from Rtn Vishnu Priyan, Rtn Sampangi, Rtn Venkatesh, and Rtn Surendran added to the warmth of the journey.
Tagline: We went for the views, stayed for the fellowship, and left a little bit of ourselves (and our blood) in Nadugani.
